Are You An Outlaw? Meet Rebecca Edwards Hnatowski

Who has redefined what it means to think outside the law (aka Outlaw) and is helping each of us in the process?

Meet Rebecca Edwards Hnatowski, Senior Marketing and Business Development Manager at Williams Mullen. Rebecca is a seasoned legal marketing and business development professional who helps attorneys grow relationships with their clients, convert prospects and works to streamline opportunities to build and enhance their practices. Rebecca has experience leading business development efforts in the areas of corporate, mergers and acquisitions, emerging companies, complex commercial contracts, tax and wealth planning, international trade, and a broad range of litigation and government investigations.

She has over 15 years of marketing and business development experience in the legal industry, including stints at several AmLaw 100 firms. She is currently the Senior Marketing and Business Development Manager at Williams Mullen, a regional, full-service law firm with approximately 240 attorneys in offices across North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

Rebecca has been an active member of the Legal Marketing Association (LMA) for the duration of her career, most recently serving as Co-Chair of Strategies & Voices, the online content center of LMA. Prior to that, Rebecca served a three-year term on the Board of Directors for the Mid-Atlantic Region, Chair of the Virginias Local Group and President of the Virginias Chapter. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Corporate Communications from Elon University.

Q: What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
A: A Trader Joe’s parking lot on a Saturday morning.


Q: What is your idea of happiness?
A: A beautiful 70-degree day, with no humidity, on an adventure with my husband, pup and a few friends.

A: Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose.

Q: Who are your favorite authors or what are your favorite books?
A: I really enjoyed The Guest List by Lucy Foley, Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr, and The Last Green Valley by Mark Sullivan.


Q: What got you into working in the legal industry?
A: Happenstance. A temp job planning a firm’s 50th anniversary party that turned into a full-time job that blossomed into a career.

A: Willie Nelson


Q: What is your current state of mind?
A: Hopeful.

A: Empathy.
