Are You An Outlaw? Meet Chantal Sheaffer

Who has redefined what it means to think outside the law (AKA Outlaw) and is helping each of us in the process?

Meet Chantal Sheaffer, Director of Marketing and Business Development at Robinson Bradshaw. Chantal draws on her 24 years of experience in marketing to oversee the advertising, marketing, business development, media relations, event planning and social media efforts of the firm.

Prior to joining Robinson Bradshaw, Chantal worked 15 years at a marketing communications firm. In this capacity, she developed and implemented marketing strategies for a variety of clients in the corporate and nonprofit sectors.

Enjoy getting to know this Outlaw!

Q: What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
A: Putting away Christmas decorations. October through December is a whirlwind, and I swear it feels like we put up decorations just to take them down in the blink of an eye.

Q: Where would you like to live?
A: I love living in Charlotte, with our cultural, restaurant and brewery scenes. It’s a great place to raise a family, and we have a lot of green space. You can’t beat our proximity to both the mountains and the beach, not to mention the convenience of an international airport. BUT, if I had to move somewhere for a while, I’d probably pick Paris (perhaps because I’ve been bingeing Emily in Paris!).

Q: Who is your real-life hero?
A: My mom. She is a strong, single parent who made sure my brother and I were raised knowing the importance of being true to yourself.

Q: Finish this sentence: “If I could have one super-power, it would be...”
A: Mind-reading. Although now that I typed that, I am thinking how loud that would be. So, perhaps I’ll just say flying.

Q: If you could have dinner with one person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
A: RGB. I don’t think it needs an explanation, but I would love to just be in her presence and hear her recount her impressive life story of fighting for gender equality.

Q: What got you into working in the legal industry?
A: I worked at a PR firm for 15 years, but the environment changed dramatically after the 2008 recession. So, I was exploring new opportunities. My mother-in-law worked at a law firm, and she heard through her network about the opening at Robinson Bradshaw. And I’m still here, nine years later!

Q: Your favorite virtue?
A: Honesty.

Q: What would you consider your greatest achievement?
A: My children.

Q: Finish this sentence: “If I won the lottery tomorrow I would...”
A: Buy a mountain house.
