LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Good leadership is at the center of any business where financial success, a solid culture and satisfied employees are found. And don’t we all want that for our firms? At Society 54, we believe that good leaders are made, not born, and we take our responsibility to play a role in this development very seriously. Additionally, we believe in a holistic approach to our work with firms and thus we focus on both your billing professionals as well as your administrative professionals. Each needs access to the resources necessary to improve skills and grow in their roles. We have created platforms that meet the needs of the firm and to train, encourage and equip great leaders at all levels.

Take a look at the options below to learn which of these may be a great fit for you or your organization. Have questions? We welcome the opportunity to discuss any of these with you in more detail. Please reach out.

Coalition

Society 54, together with Law Practice Consultants, has launched a multi-year succession leadership academy focused on collaborating across disciplines to build skills necessary to lead law firms now and into the future. Participants build a wide range of management and leadership skills; referral relationships with colleagues; and assist one another with visualizing and achieving professional goals.

Cohorts are comprised of leaders from different firms and gather on a regular basis to participate in trainings and skill-learning. Cohorts are new in their respective roles and are supportive of one another in their sharing of ideas, challenges, experiences and best practices. COalition Cohorts include:

  • Practice Group Leader

  • New Executive/Management Committee Member

  • Future Firm Leaders

  • Diversity & Equity Inclusion Integrator

  • Internal Development Coach

For attorneys

Women in Leadership

With over 30% of attorneys projecting to retire over the next few years, there is an ever-increasing need to develop strong leaders. Additionally, women currently comprise less than 15% of equity partnership within NLJ350 firms - but it doesn’t have to remain this way. Join us as we work alongside one another to build the skills necessary to lead law firms into the future. You will be placed in a cohort with women with a shared desire to advance within their profession, all while balancing an increased demand on their time at work and home.

Practice Group Leadership

Practice group leaders are often selected by firms based on the quality of their work and billings. While those may be indicators of great professional aptitude, there are so many other skills that need to be developed to ensure the success of those in these roles. We offer well-rounded trainings for practice leaders that include everything from the business of professional services, time management, running efficient meetings and more.

Future Leader

Similar to our PGL training outlined above, we also offer leadership trainings to those who aspire to leadership positions in the future – managing partner, marketing and business development partners, practice group, firm boards and more.

FOR FIRM ADMINISTRATIVE PROFESSIONALS

The Circle

It’s no secret that “two [or more] heads are better than one.” And if you’ve ever had a decision, a staffing issue, a career dilemma, or a roadblock to overcome in your professional life, you likely know that having a circle of similarly positioned counterparts in other organizations can be critical. We need people around us who understand the seats we sit in and the corresponding responsibilities – they offer empathy, ideas, experience, anecdotes, compassion, advice and more. Some people call this having friends. Others may call it a roundtable, a council or a forum. But all of those, while beneficial, don’t fully grasp the full meaning of what we need from a group like this.

We have created The Circle, an exclusive group of top-tier professionals that has two meet-ups per year (one in person and one virtual) and year-round access to one another and a shared group document repository. This group is designed to offer Marketing, Business Development and Communications professionals with Chief or Director titles an opportunity to connect with other bright minds for collaboration, networking, support and more.

You may be asking yourself, “Why ‘The Circle’?” Well, did you know that circles are considered to be the strongest shape? This is because stress within the confines of a circle is equally distributed along the arc rather than concentrated at any one point. Cool, huh? A great group of people who can share the load. We don’t have to do it alone!

At the Table

At the Table is an affinity group program for current and future firm leaders. We are always seeking candidates for groups in the following areas: marketing and business development leaders, women professionals and marketing and business development managers. Click here to learn more.

CoachING DEVELOPMENT

We offer a unique customized, interactive program that provides an individual marketing and business development professional with his or her own coach with the goals of developing confidence, presenting thoughtful ideas, enhancing leadership and management skills and more.
