Q: With what firm or company do you work?
Moore & Van Allen, PLLC
Q: What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
A world without my squad, books, pizza, and wine.
Q: What is your idea of happiness?
Me, my husband, my daughter, and our two dogs, cuddled up on the couch reading or watching a movie. Happiness, to me, is peaceful, with a full heart just being together, nowhere to be but in each other's company.
Q: Who is your real-life hero?
I really admire Michelle Obama. She seems so authentic and approachable, like someone you could be friends with and at the same time, she has an incredible pedigree and a flourishing career, and was a First Lady! She also managed to raise two remarkably well-adjusted women while living in the fishbowl of the White House and has sustained a healthy marriage. She’s just all around #goals.
Q: What is your motto?
Be kind - in thought and action. It’s easy to create a narrative about someone else’s intentions, or to let emotions cloud your judgment in heated situations. In a world where we are increasingly focused on our differences, I try to remind myself that we’re all human: imperfect and mostly trying our best.
Q: Who are your favorite authors or what are your favorite books?
I love historical fiction, and I could not put down Kristin Hannah’s new book, The Women. As soon as I finished it, I wanted to start all over again. For non-fiction, Glennon Doyle’s Untamed, Kim Scott’s Radical Candor, and Arin Reeves’ In Charge have stayed with me long after I finished each of them.
Q: Your favorite musician or band?
I love Chris Stapleton, Zac Brown Band, and U2. They’re also all incredible live. And, honestly, it’s hard not to get swept up into becoming a Swiftie. My daughter loves Taylor Swift, and as a result, I have become much more familiar with her full catalog in the past year (attributable also to the Eras Tour hype no doubt). The Tortured Poets Department is such a great album name. It’s sad, it’s beautiful, it’s vulnerable. I really appreciate it as a work of art.
Q: Finish this sentence: "If I won the lottery tomorrow I would..."
Open a combination bookstore, coffee shop, and wine bar. I’d revel in discovering new authors and recommending books to those who wander in. I’d also buy a beachfront house. I'm fortunate to live in a town on the water now, but it would be a dream to have a house with a private beach!
