Celebrating the Small Things | Rewarding and Motivating

Celebrating the small things is something that we tend to do less as we get older. Remember how you'd celebrate winning a board game, running a fast race or completing a difficult puzzle as a kid? Why do we stop doing that?

Perhaps our expectations of ourselves (and others) rise with age and experience. This can be a great thing - we've seen time and time again where people will work hard to meet or exceed high expectations placed upon them - but why shouldn't we also celebrate the smaller victories?

This may look like being brave enough to have a difficult conversation with a client or colleague and determining a great solution. It could be putting the final touches on a really challenging project. Perhaps a small victory for you is taking a lunch break for a change! The definition of "small victory" is relative to every individual.

But don't overlook the joy and satisfaction that can be found in those moments of recognizing success - even when it seems small. Often these little things can and will snowball into bigger successes and positive habits. Let those victories motivate you to continue on an upward trajectory.
