Get to Know Your Colleagues

Did you know that attorneys are actually referring their clients to other law firms because they lack the knowledge of their colleagues' capabilities? Not only does this hurt the firm's bottom line, but it hurts the firm's reputation and trustworthiness. Spend time each week talking to those who work with you - ask about current matters, recent matters, and overall experience. Read bios and show up to meetings outside of your own practice. Learn what you can about your firm's capabilities and, before referring a client to another attorney or firm, talk to your colleagues. You may find what your client needs just a floor or phone call away.
