Are You an Outlaw? Meet Gia Altreche
Who has redefined what it means to think outside the law (aka OUTLAW) and is helping each of us in the process?
Meet Gia Altreche, Director of Business Development and Marketing for Newmeyer & Dillion LLP where she leads the firm’s client engagement strategies to further deepen relationships and authentically support its client base and surrounding business communities. With 14 years in the industry, she has a deep passion for helping law firms create incremental steps for long-term success, including building and sustaining a culture that nurtures an inclusive environment where everyone has an outlet for their voice to be heard and a seat at the table.
Gia serves the industry as the Co-Chair of the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee and the D&I SIG for the Legal Marketing Association. Having grown up in Phoenix, AZ, Gia is now a proud resident of Long Beach, CA. When not in the office, you can find her trying a new recipe, learning more about her ‘green thumb’ or enjoying the outdoors.
We asked Gia a few questions, and her answers can be found below. Enjoy getting to know this Outlaw!
Q: Where would you like to live?
A: The Pisces in me will always say – somewhere close to water! Coming from Puerto Rican heritage, I would love to take some time to live in Puerto Rico, and fully experience my island firsthand. There’s so much to explore, eat, research, and witness! For me in order to truly do it justice, I would need to live there for a bit.
Q: Who is your real life hero?
A: Hands down, it would be my mother, Raquel. She has shown my siblings and me what ‘walking the talk’ truly looks like. She’s a living example of drive and resilience, and continues to challenge me to not only ‘do the work’ to experience my best self (whatever that may look like for me), but that reality is for me to manifest! She is my mom, mentor, hero, coach and best friend.
Q: What is your motto?
A: When You Change The Way You Look At Things, The Things You Look At Change.
Q: What is your greatest fear?
A: My greatest fear is that fear will get the best of me – it will stop me from taking a leap, speaking my truth, or preventing a true, deep ‘lean in’ to everything. I believe there is purpose in everything I experience, and I want to understand it, lean in and learn as much as I can. Fear provides limits, and I want to experience the opposite!
Q: Finish this sentence: “If I could have one super-power, it would be…”
