ARE YOU AN OUTLAW? MEET KELLY MACKINNON

Who has redefined what it means to think outside the law (aka OUTLAW) and is helping each of us in the process? Meet Kelly MacKinnon, Director of Business Development at Fried Frank overseeing a global team supporting the firm’s business development and visibility initiatives. She is an active member of the Legal Marketing Associations and has held various board positions at both the international and chapter level. Prior to her legal marketing career, Kelly worked for the National Hockey League, Bon Appetit Magazine and coached women’s ice hockey internationally. She received her BA from Brown University in American History and Business and was a four year division 1 athlete playing both Field Hockey and Ice Hockey. Finish this sentence, If I could have one super-power, it would be .... To never have to sleep. While I love to, imagine how much you could get done and all the cool experiences you could have if you had 24 hours to do things.

Finish this sentence- if I won the lottery tomorrow I would... Likely still be working in legal marketing but would enjoy sunsets on my beach house deck.

What is your motto? “It is all good.” So much of life and potential opportunities are what you make of them. I always try to find the good in everything even if I have to dig a little bit.

Where would you like to live? I would love to live in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The empty space, fresh air, pace of life and beauty is captivating.

What is your idea of happiness? A good glass of red wine, a cheese and meat plate, a cool fall evening surrounded by good friends and family laughing till my sides hurt.

What is your greatest fear? My greatest fear is disappointing those I love. And snakes – no matter how big or how small.

What is your current state of mind? Motivated

What got you into working in the legal industry? I was looking for a career that allowed me to continue to leverage my marketing and coaching experience.

Who would you have liked to be? A sports broadcaster preferably in a hockey rink somewhere.
