Huse’s Thoughts on Willkie’s Admissions Scandal Statement in Law360

In the wake of the shocking college admissions cheating scandal, Law360 published “Did Willkie’s Reaction to Admissions Scandal Miss the Mark?” Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP placed its co-chair, Gordon Caplan, one of the individuals indicted in the scandal, on leave and after a full day of silence, issued a brief and vague statement.

The Law360 article analyzes the firm’s response, and interviews various industry experts to glean their thoughts – one of which was Jill Huse.

“Jill Huse, a marketing consultant to law firms at Society 54, said that while it is good that the law firm acknowledged the indictment, she too believes its statement does not go far enough. She says it should have conveyed more action by the firm, letting people know whether it is cooperating with authorities and whether there is an internal investigation being performed.
‘Given his position within the firm, they need to own this news and take preventative measures to maintain the trust invested by their clients and colleagues,’ Huse said.”
