Emily Hillman brings more than a decade of marketing, business development and client service experience to the Society 54 team. Her positive attitude and work-hard-play-hard mentality, combined with her intense desire to succeed and drive results for her clients, is the foundation on which she builds each client relationship. Emily splits her work between providing interim talent support for her clients and one-on-one business development coaching for attorneys and government relations professionals.

Emily has worked in various account management and client service roles throughout her career and enjoys building meaningful relationships with her clients and coachees built on trust, frequent communication, and respect. The last ten years of her career were spent in the legal industry, most recently as an in-house business development professional at an AmLaw 200 law firm. In this role, Emily worked on every aspect of business development and marketing for the firm, its attorneys and its government relations professionals. This support included one-on-one client development coaching, practice group development and strategy, website and social media management, budget planning, public relations and media strategy, sponsorship coordination, RFP response and pitch material development, client alert communication and blog management, Chambers submissions and other award nominations, and assisting with event planning and execution. This well-rounded and robust experience provides her with not only the experience needed to support her clients in all facets of legal marketing and business development, but also the depth to do so successfully.

Active in the legal marketing community, Emily has held many roles in the Legal Marketing Association (LMA) throughout her career. She has served as local chair, been a member of the Southeast Regional Governing Board, served on the LMASE Conference planning committee for multiple years and currently serves as co-chair of the International Talent Development Committee.

Not one to shy away from public speaking, Emily also enjoys presenting to her peers on various business development and client service topics and for law firms internally to both attorneys and legal marketing and business development teams.

When she is not driving results for her clients, Emily can be found enjoying the warm Florida weather and spending time with her family: her husband, Sam, two boys, Henry and Scotty, and her rescue dog, Cole. When she can find the time, she enjoys diving into a good book or a good Netflix series, so if you have any recommendations for either, please let her know!

More About EMILY

  • Birthday: December 6

  • Emily’s hidden talent? she is skilled at picking things up with her feet. But don’t worry, she won’t show this off during client meetings.

  • Emily played water polo in high school and part of college. When you get to know Emily, it may be surprising to you that she played such an aggressive sport!

  • She has a huge extended family. In total, she has 14 aunts and uncles and 20 cousins. And there are now 16 total grandchildren in the family with three on the way! Even more surprising is that they all get along and see each other regularly (on purpose) despite being dispersed all around the country with some even overseas.

  • Despite her crushed childhood dreams of becoming a Broadway star, Emily still enjoys a good karaoke session. Although, she has been known to clear the room with her less than stellar vocals that she tends to not hold back.

  • She has a very intense fear of heights, but that didn’t stop her from jumping out of an airplane when she graduated college.
