What You Say “No” to Defines What You Can Actually Get Done
Here’s a little secret from the coaching trenches: focus isn’t just about what you do, it’s about what you’re willing to let go of.
We see it all the time:
✅ The partner who says yes to every speaking opportunity (and then ghostwrites half of them the night before).
✅ The marketer running 19 campaigns because they’re all “priority.”
✅ The BD pro chasing metrics for three different audiences, with none of them landing.
If everything’s important, nothing is.
This year, give yourself (and your team) permission to say “no” or at least “not right now” to the things that don’t align with your goals. Want to build thought leadership? Skip the client alert no one asked for. Want to deepen relationships? Maybe it’s time to pause the 47-event strategy and double down on strategic follow-ups.
Here’s your focus challenge this month:
📝 Write down three things you’re NOT going to do in Q1.
Yes, not.
Then reallocate that time, brainpower, or budget to something that actually moves the needle.
Focus isn’t about discipline. It’s about intention.
And trust us, your future self will be high-fiving you for it.
